Parental comment: "Ronnie Sherlock’s Band is incredible. My kids have learned so much from Ronnie. I was amazed at the Christmas concert by the intense level of music they played and how well they played it! Mr. Sherlock and I go way back. He was great as my band director at Sherwood Junior and he’s even greater as I now watch him teach my kids. Thanks Ronnie." Parent Pat Guttery August 17, 2009 School Year Begins

Quotes from Students About Mr. Sherlock’s Summer Band Program
“Band camp has really helped improve my tone quality. It has also greatly enlarged my note range. I really enjoy Mr. Sherlock’s humor to make band more fun and he created a great learning environment.” Amanda Wolff, 14
“I had a lot of fun at Mr. Sherlock’s band camp. I learned how to read harder music. Mr. Sherlock had taught me how to play the clarinet the past school year, but this summer, I also learned how to play trumpet. Mr. Sherlock really gave us challenging music this summer that helped us get much better. Mr. Sherlock’s band is fun because he makes us do things that challenge us and he is fun! I would encourage other kids to join the band. I really enjoy it. It is a lot of fun.” Christine Guttery, 15
“Because of band I can play higher notes. I have got a better sound and it is a very good band.” Thomas Wolff, 8
“I learned to play the French horn much better in only a few weeks. I can now play more advanced music.” Omer Wolff, 11
“I liked learning the trombone. It was really fun. I met new friends, and I got to see one of my friends from school almost every day.” John Paul
“When I first joined band camp I stunk. Now I‘m not saying I have improved a lot but my parents are telling me that I am getting better. Mr. Sherlock is a good band director, He has taught me very much. I like band very much. Everyone is getting better." Jonathan Mounce, 11
“I learned how to play clarinet. I think it’s fun to play Star Wars.” Ethan Casiello, 13
“Mr. Sherlock is funny and he is a good teacher. He pushes us to get better.” Noah Guttery, 11
"Band camp was fun, and it helped me to become a better flute player. It was fun because we got to play fun songs like 'Star Wars' and enjoy Mr. Sherlock's dramatic personality. The fun songs were also challenging, and I received instruction on them more than once a week, both of which helped me to become a better flute player." Laura Wolff, 16
"My daughter has been playing the flute for 4 years. A good band director makes all the difference. Since she has started taking band with Mr. Sherlock, I'm amazed at how much better she is playing. She is very enthusiastic about playing and practices often. Mr. Sherlock is a great band director and the B.R.A.Y.S.B. is a talented group of kids!" Lisa Atkinson (parent of Carolyn Atkinson) "This is the first year that I have actually enjoyed playing my flute in a band. The music is challenging as well as fun to play. Mr. Sherlock has a good sense of humor and keeps the band practices interesting. An hour and a half seems to fly by!" Carolyn Atkinson (11th grade)
